New to Ipswich as one of 6 Excels built (and 1 ex-Demo) for the town network, to be used on the 13/8 services.
192 and the other excels were later debranded of their route branding and later lost the 'Easy Access' branding, 192 kept its dark green skirt until repaint into the White and Green 'slope' (2003) livery.
Upon Ipswich Buses loosing the Park and Ride contract, surplus buses were withdrawn and disposed of, these being the entire Excel Mk1 fleet left (187-9, 191-4/7). This and all the other remaining excels (exluding 187 and 197) were sold to Ensign (Dealer) in P/ex for Trident No. 63/10.
Carters required a full size service bus for work they had gained that needed an low floor bus, with influence and seeing what Ensignbus had in stock, 192 was selected for purchase. It was sent to Simonds, Diss for repaint and destination fitted.
192 mainly featured on Services 92 and 96 for Carters, later gaining a fleet number 292.
Simonds did the main maintance for Carters, and Ipswich Buses breakdowns and services, upon disposal from Carters Simonds acquired it for use.
It kept the smart Carters livery for a while with Simonds fleetnames.
It was often found on the 383 in Bury St Edmunds and on Service 1/2 in Norwich. Later it had adopted an ageless personal numberplate JGV929 and was repainted into Simonds standard fleet livery of white wih the Countrylink branding and leafs applied.
In September 2014 192 was withdrawn from service due to fleet replacement, brand new B7R MCV, The IBPG looked at it in November and was agreed to be purchased.
February 2015, 192 (JGV929/P192SGV) was purchased for Preservation by the Ipswich Bus Preservation Group, we would like to thank Simonds for allowing us to do this.
In August 2015 192 was treated to a tidy up and a complete repaint. We decided to paint it into something a bit different!
